It makes ice, dumps into the bucket but will not dispense.

I have a Kenmore Elite s/s with same issue- if I remove all the ice, hold the door switch and push the dispenser lever the auger moves, crushers spin, and should dispense the ice- both modes function. As soon as the ice is added, I have tried different amounts in the bin, the motor comes on but it is like the auger arm is stripped. I looked at the bottom of the bin and it looks like the gear the that mates with the motor are may be stripped- it looks like it is metal and not plastic but does seem a bit worn. So I am not sure if this is an underpowered motor issue or stripped out auger bin issue. Big part is not being able to find the proper parts to fix it.
