White vertical lines on display

Hey guys!

Yesterday my display started showing white vertical lines across the whole display and I am wondering what could be the cause of this?  And is it fixable on my own?

I've tried turning it off completely, removing the battery and nothing works.  Please note that the lines even show up on boot while the apple logo is displaying.  But other than the lines, everything seems to function normally.
