There's a ''sense'' lead on pin 5 of the DC-In jack that is used to determine the type of charger that is connected to the laptop.
Use a strong light and a magnifying glass and check that all the pins in the charge port are OK and are not bent, broken or missing, especially pin 5.
If the input side of the charge port looks OK, remove the battery from the laptop and then open the laptop and disconnect the DC-In cable from the motherboard only. At this stage you don't have to remove it any further from the laptop.

Go to p.89 (p.95 of 108 pdf) to view the procedure to remove/replace the DC-in cable.
Use a DMM's (digital multimeter) Ohmmeter function and test the wire from pin 5 of the DC In jack to the white wire on the DC-In cable plug for continuity.
''If the wire is open circuit'', replace the DC-In cable. Search online for any of the following 3 part numbers as they are all for DC-In cables that are compatible with the laptop.
