I have been all over the internet and i just cant seem to find out what plug #6 does. i recently rebuilt my iPhone and something happened on the logic board that misshaped the #6 plug and now i cannot catch EDGE service. i catch 3g fine but will not find service in EDGE coverage area. HELP!!!!!

I think that's a part of an antenna. That's the type of connector usually present in an antenna.

Do you think that would be part of the edge antenna? The plug will not connect to the motherboard anymore the circle part of the plug on the mother board has a price missing from it.

Sounds like that's it. You might be hosed. :( As far as I know, I'm not sure how to fix that kind of antenna.

didnt think it was repairable. may just have to end up getting yet another mother board. #3, here we come.

i'm fairly sure you can "bodge" it with either solder (the centre of connection is for gps/wifi antenna pin, the outer ring is just a stabiliser) or glue gun to hold connector in place. no need to throw away a good phone!

I agree with Joey, But if it's the type of connector I'm thinking of you probably dont want to solder the plug to it as you may risk shorting the two poles of the antenna, best bet is get a good connection and hold in place with a tooth pick or similar instrument and glue with two-part epoxy as it will harden and not move from that spot once set comepletely.
If your toothpick accidently gets glued to the connection just cut off as close as possible to the epoxy glue line with exacto-knife.
