Howto get Apple Hardware Test for this MacBook?

Hi all,

I just got a broken Macbook 13" unibody from ebay.

It doesn't display anything, but graphics works (with some artifacts) if I connect and external display.

Unfortunately it doesn't come with installation DVD (and it doesn't have an hard drive), so I tried to use AHT from my macbook pro 13" 2009.

It starts, but it displays a window in the middle of the screen that I can't read because it shuts down immediately.

Is it because I'm using the wrong version of AHT? where can I get the proper one?

Thanks for the help!

Update: just tried connecting the display to my Macbook pro 13" 2009. It works flawlessly.

As mayer suggests, need to track the logic board for problems

Call Apple and get your original system installation disk with AHT from them. The cost is $16 plus tax and shipping.

Next go to step 9 of this guide: MacBook Unibody Model A1278 Display Assembly Replacement

Disconnect and examine the display data cable and logic board port for any corrosion or breakage.

It's the C397 near the display connector that's missing a pin junction. I think also some really tiny neighbor capacitor are blown... And also the TDK 6T213HF is a little burned on the package.

I'm not good enough for this type of repairs. I think I keep the display for my project and sell the rest. Thank you for the help!

I had to go to the Genius Bar and have them run it, but in the process, I got the "exact" AHT version number. I found the disk(s) I need on Ebay.
