Screen compatibility between A1226 / A1260 MacBook Pros

I have a 2.2Ghz MBP A1226 with a cracked screen,

I would like to know if its possible to use a 2.4Ghz, late 2008 A1260 model screen as a replacement.

With the multiple OEM and non OEM, and warnings about specific screen type options out there. The various screens used for each of these models, its a fair amount of reading.

i did get a screen model # via terminal for my 2.2ghz MBP: LTN154BT - Color LCD

Hopefully in this case its a strait forward answer to this question.

I am hoping to take the screen and frame from the 2.4ghz model and install it on the 2.2ghz model.

(The 2.4Ghz models motherboard is bad making it a cost effective option for me).... oddly enough , the screens for these models now exceed the cost of some earlier unibody screens

any input would be welcome,

i would prefer to get an answer or guidance etc, before taking both machines apart only to find out, my effort was wasted after burning some serious calories.

Brian, the only quick info I can find is that "There are two versions of displays for the Macbook Pro 15". There are the standard LCD displays, and there are LED displays. The standard displays go into the 1.83GHZ, 2.0GHZ, 2.16GHZ and 2.33GHZ models. The LED displays are only compatible with with 2.2GHz, 2.4GHz, 2.5, and 2.6GHz Santa Rosa and Penryn models. Matte and glossy screens are interchangeable within their model type." So one could be a LED and the other an LCD. That means different technology so no go. There is also the possibility that other MacBook Pro (Late 2008) has the Full Display Assembly (Glossy) Item #: 661-5091-A which is compatible with Apple 661-4837 which is a LP154WP3 and manufactured by LG. If you could get the number of the A1260 we could absolutely verify a Yay or Nay. Confused yet ;-)?

actually, thats quite helpful, with the various models numbers and posts and blogs, that brings the issue into focus, ty.

if there is a way for me to physically inspect , to know if the 2.4ghz model is LED or not ? then i can proceed with burning the calories to do the swap. ( the 2.4ghz models logic board isnt working)

The model number should be on the back of the panel. Any mark should help.
