jackie, the number one thing that you do want to get done is a good coolant flush. It is possible that somebody just water instead of antifreeze. You also should make sure it is rust and not that your antifreeze has gone bad. You need to flush it out good man. It can make a mess when it gets goopy. Repeat a complete flush in a few month. I'd take it to an Auto Zone and have them test the coolant. This will tell you if it's just water and rust or the level of antifreeze protection it has. If none, then follow old turkeys advice.
