I have a 3rd gen 8 gig iPod touch. Recently, the lock button has started sticking, and I've noticed that the charge isn't holding either. I'm guessing the lack of battery charge is because of the stuck button. How do I get the button unstuck so it'll start functioning normally again?

You might need to check the lock button.
I recommend you follow the guide here on iFixit:

I would work towards and until step 8. Then I would inspect the lock button and would try to clean it. Maybe you have to remove it temporarily in order to get it really clean.
After that, reposition the lock button carefully and assemble everything else again.
Now, I would give the battery a "second chance". Maybe it was indeed the lock button and your battery might be able to hold the charge after this cleaning.
