My IPhone 3GS no longer charges. I replaced the old battery back in Oct 2012 and it has worked for 5 months. Now I can't charge the phone. Did my replacement battery fail? I did all the suggested tricks but no joy. I'm willing to get another battery from Ifixit and do the replacement myself.

john lim, it is possible that the battery has failed. Also, you do want to try a different cable, check your dock connector for any dirt, debris, or bend and broken pins. Clean it with some isopropyl alcohol and a few puffs or compressed air. Try to charge your phone on an AC charger and see if that does make a difference. If not, definitely replace the battery. If nothing else it will provide you with a known good starting point. Hope this helps, good luck.

Not an answer. Trying to find out if you've ever fixed the problem? Mine is same way.

rishmikeh, I replaced the battery with one purchased from Ifixit. My Iphone is working now. However, there are reports on Ifixit that replacing the battery didn't work for them. Could be related to what version of SW you have. My Iphone was jailbroken so I can't upgrade the SW. Running with the original SW. Hope this helps with your problem.
