Getting different errors when updating

I bought a PS3 on ebay to fix. Problem is that it would not update. I have tried to update and got the error 8002f14e. After some research, alot of the problem points to the blu-ray drive. I made sure it is connected, and cleaned the lens. Still have the same problem. I have reformatted the hard drive to fat32. I got it to update to 99% then stopped.

Even though I have reformatted the hard drive on my computer, I keep thinking that the hard drive is bad. Any answers to help me get this thing running would be great.
