Ipad 2 Damaged Digitizer connectors

Hi,

I damaged the digitizer connectors during an attempted repair. Not only did one of the clips break off (I have seen suggestions on this), but I actually pulled the black tape off the top of the connector (I thought the cable popped off like it does on the Itouch), then the pins themselves starting coming off. I know the connectors can be replaced by soldering but I am hoping there is a work around because the soldering process looks pretty tough.

Any help would be appreciated!

Lisa Graf, if the pins pulled out of the connector, then the only appropriate repair would be to solder it. Place an image of your broken connector and the logic board damage so we can see what you see. There might be other possibilities. the connectors are available at places like this. Hope this helps, good luck.

It's hard to see from the picture, but it looks like the fpc on the right was not removed? If that's true and all the pads are intact it's not dead yet.

Yes, I would remove the damaged f p c then solder on the new on being very careful of the pads.

In the photo above, the fpc is removed. Thats the damage on the logic board. :/

Well Nikki, looking at the logic board there, it looks as if the board is beyond repair. It looks like the soldering gun or whatever you used did quit a bit of damage. Once the traces are messed up, then there's no hope of repair from what I've seen. I hope that I can been proved wrong on this by someone with some bada** soldering skills. I'm actually in the same boat with the digitizer connector tab being broken off and having to desolder and solder a new connector on. I'm really apprehensive about doing this though as I really don't have a whole lot of experience with soldering such SMALL parts and with the traces so close together.
