What can I upgrade?

MacBook Pro 15" 2.66GHz i7 Core 2 Duo Model A1286

Hello everyone

My MBP is becoming really slow.. I use a photoshop and aperture quite a lot and I think it's time for an HW upgrade!! (upgrading to a new retina it's too expensive!! )

I want to upgrade my RAM and maybe my logic board to my mid 2010 15" MBP (A1286)

I just want to make sure i'm doing the right thing...

RAM:

I can go up to 8Gb DDR3 1066MHz PC3-8500

(or can be upgraded to 16Gb)??

Logic Board:

I have the 2.66GHz i7 core 2 duo.... with a GForce 330M

What is the best upgrade? can a 2012 Logic board fit?

You're not going to do much better with a logic board replacement and it's cost prohibitive. The maximum RAM is 8 GB. But your original hard drive, a 500 GB (5400 RPM), could definitely be improved on. I personally like the

Western Digital

500GB Scorpio Black Hard Disk Drive

2.5-Inch | SATA 3.0Gb/s | 7200RPM | 16MB Cache

for this machine.

You could also go with an 3.0 Gb/s SSD drive.
