Reuse the flat LCD panel to a vga monitor

Hey guys,

I've followed the LCD repair guide for dissassemble the LCD panel. The Macbook is dead and I want to reuse the LCD.

My goal is to use this screen as an ordinary LCD connected to a home server (VGA).

Anyone can help me how to achieve this?

Regards!

Pere Castanyer, yes it can be done. You will need a couple of pieces for this kind of conversion. first you will need to know what panel you have and to get a datasheet on that This is to determine to pinout for the connectors. Then you will need a driver board, this will allow your panel to receive and display data, as well as turning the backlight on etc, You may want to look into something like thisor this one.Again, a lot of this will depend on your panel, and how comfortable you are working on it. If you provide us with the last three digits of your computer, we might find some more information on this project of yours. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks oldturkey03.

My model is A1280 and my Serial number is: ********1AQ

(You don't need all number?)

Another question is: I've not disassembled the LCD Panel from it's apple metal case, only I've dissassembled it from the unibody carcass. It's needed?

Regards.

Do you have any number you can see on the panel itself? It is most likely a LP133WX3 but you have to make sure.

No way :( I've tried to separate the glass from the metal case following the instructinons of MacBook Unibody Model A1278 LCD Panel Replacement with no luck. I've heated the crystal but I'm not able to separate the damm thing.

Any other way to know the LCDpart number? because the thought of a hammer is crossing my mind.... (joking)

I supose that I need more heat...I'll keep trying.

Regards and thanks.
