Display very Dark after liquid Spill, how to troubleshoot?

The machine works fine when connected to an external monitor. So, I'm hoping there could be an opportunity for component repair vs major (and expensive) assembly-level replacement.

I have read similar posts, but recognize there are different builds even within the same model and year of production.

Model: A1369, last digits of my serial Number DDR1

Any suggestions would be welcomed. I have not opened the unit at this time.

Thanks,

Chris

First do you remember what was spilled? Depending on what it was you may need different techniques to clean things up.

Use this IFIXIT guide to help you in opening your system and in removing your logic board as you likely will need to do that to inspect things MacBook Air 13" Late 2010 Logic Board Replacement. Do you see any corrosion or staining where the liquid spilled? Take some good hires pictures and post them so we can see.

It was a water spill. I now have the Logic board out and have taken some photos, but I don't know how to post them. I'm sure it's easy, but I'm new to the site. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks

No Problem! follow this guide: Technique: Adding images to an existing answer

Looks like you cleaned things up. I don't see any staining on the removed logic board images. But I do see salting on the bottom image it also looks like the water entered though the heat sink fin area and fan. Did the I/O board get the worst of it?

tarafından

The I/O Board doesn't show any obvious signs of damage, though there is some residue like on the logic board.

Is it possible to troubleshot the display issue?

tarafından

I would give it a good cleaning with distilled water (as you did with the other main logic board) with a soft brush to scrub it down. Then use a high grade Isopropyl alcohol (85% or better) to act as a dryer.
