swapping display data cables, is it possible/the solution?

i have a cracked display with a display data connection that is functional (everything shows up fine on parts of the screen not cracked) and i have another "grade A used" display assembly that i installed and it wont turn on.

the camera and airport antenna are functional and the system report shows that the display is the correct one, however, screen is still black (on the used replacement display). tried smc reset, control+option+p+r reset, adjust brightness, reseating the display data connection (4 times) and still black screen.

i put the cracked display back on to see if i damaged the display data input connection and the cracked display connects just as it did before. so i am thinking its the display data cable on the replacement causing trouble.

is it feasible to swap the cracked display's cable into the replacement assembly? or is there another element i am overlooking in the troubleshooting process?

thanks for your time and help!

The logic sounds correct to me…unless that assembly is not compatible with the Graphics Card (resolution, refresh rates). While the questionable unit is attached connect also to an external monitor and see if the display is detected and properly identified in System Information… and Systm Preferences:Displays.

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

yea that is what i meant by the 'system report' coming back positive that the display in question was the correct one, via external display with mirroring on and off too. unfortunately i will just use an external display for the gig tonite and the vendor for the display is sending a replacement. thanks for you help.
