Dead or blue screen after screen replacement

Hi!

I have changed a few iPhone 5S displays and the device is starting to scare me now.

Have had multiple devices with weird problems after screen replacement (but most of the time it works like a charm).

Why is this? What is it about the 5S thats so different from 5 and 5C.

Thanks!

I have also same problem BLUE SCRREN...... How I can fix it?

I have also blue screen problem . Screen work fine until I connect the front camera cable. I had remove all screw several time and got same problem . Please help

There are usually 3 reasons for blue screen. The front camera and proximity flex cable may have been damaged, the home button connector may not be seated right, or you have screw damage from not putting in the right screws during a repair as it's very important to lay your screws out or use a screw mat so you don't mix them up. If you screw a long screw where a short screw should go can damage a logic board and it's a expensive fix.

This is a common problem that occurs if you do not put the screws in the right place for the metal shield that covers the lcd and digitizer connections. It's very important to make sure you lay out your screws when you remove them in the same order. There is one longer screw and if it's put into the wrong spot you can damage the logic board and get the blue screen of death error 9 or 14. Here is a diagram of the proper screw layout on youtube, although hard to read it gives you the layout. Try removing the screws and put them in the proper order. If your lucky it might resolve the problem. If it damaged the logic board too deep it is not repairable.

Hope this helps.....

I know some blue screen 5s problems come from screw damage to the board--tearing the trace under the screwhole.

Wow, we've come a long way since I answered this in August.

iPhone 5s blue screen causes:

1.) proximity flex

2.) long screw damage--accidentally using a longer screw than original to screw down the LCD shield plate at the bottom right screw.

3.) baseband/charging chip failures, various chip-level defects.

1 is a DIY fix. 2 is solvable with what I call 'extreme microsoldering' --hit me up via my profile if you want to ask me about this professionally. 3. too much of an easter egg hunt right now.

Hello,

Defiantly check the screws like brucemicki said, if that doesn't help then take it a step further. The next thing you will need to do is disconnect the connectors and clean them with like a 91% alcohol, then try it again, if this doesn't fix your problem, then you may have a bigger issues. Like minor logic board damage in the connectors area, which can happen if the phone was ever dropped. Inspect the connectors for any micro fractures or blown resistors and diodes, you will need a microscope or Superman's vision. If you fine and of this, then lets hope you are a micro soldering specialist.

If this helps please accept and mark me up!

What is going on here Device Savers with your voting ring? --this post appeared out of nowhere less than a day ago and fails to address what we now know is clearly the problem with blue screen of death in iPhone 5s---long screw damage. I couldn't care less about collecting upvotes, but when you guys upvote each other's answers so that you now mask the best answer brucemicki and put it below yours--that's not cool.

You guys do this habitually, and it takes away from the natural diversity of answers and the community-based selection of best answers. Please stop.

First, I want to thank you for your criticism as it will help us grow as individuals and as a team. Second, I want to offer up a bit of information: we have new team members that are not used to doing this type of remote troubleshooting and are doing their best to provide what they feel to be the correct answer, and they do this on their own time without any compensation because of their love of technology and helping others. I understand that the heart of the issue is most likely the discrepancy between the time the original question was asked and the answer provided by John. I apologize that the voting system has allowed our answers to creep beyond other ones that may be correct as well or even offer a better solution—this is due to the fact that, as a team, if we agree with each other we will of course support their answer.

tarafından

We have nothing to gain from these votes and do not care about such trivial things as internet karma or badges; we are here simply to provide the answers we feel to be correct to better serve the community as a whole. In this particular instance, I do not fully agree with your frustration as John was pointing out in his first sentence that he agreed with the solution previously offered, and John was also adding further information if the screw placement was not the case. I do see how you could be upset about this due to the age of the question and the recent reply but there are instances where an answer has not been accepted yet and more information could be helpful to someone out there and not just the people taking time to respond. Seeing as how the original poster had not given feedback yet as to whether or not this fixed their issue, and that no answer had been officially accepted, I can see why new members may post in older threads and go against the unwritten protocol of reviving old threads.

tarafından

I know that it can be difficult and a strain for people these days to read through a few pages of information. However, considering that this question and responses total take up less than a page of information, I feel that you are lashing out at John and that’s less cool than voting up your team member’s posts :(

tarafından

Everybody on here is doing this for free out of a passion for helping others. I appreciate you guys coming to answers--welcome! I think much of what, especially you Eric, have to say is fantastic advice. I would hate to think that anyone feels criticized in their answer, I intend no criticism.

I also couldn't care less about votes and points etc. However, I do care about the community being able to essentially choose what answer is at the top of the question. When you guys essentially get 3+ votes to everyone else's one---that changes the whole system, no?

So how about this. Don't vote for each other's posts. Problem solved.

I can confirm that this is a very real problem. I accidentally did this to a customer's phone this evening. I've repaired hundreds of iPhones including quite a few 5S's, and just happened to grab the wrong screw by mistake this time.

Hello Oscar,

Blue screen is caused by putting the screws back into the wrong places. Double check that everything is where it should be! You might have damaged your motherboard :(. Here is some more info: http://vkrepair.com/iphone-5s/iphone-5s-...

What about those who have had the BSOD for no reason, after 2 freaking months of having bought the phone BRAND NEW! And then sent it off to Apple, then it happened AGAIN after 3 weeks of the replacement? And after being charged a service fee, even when I have Apple I care >:(

also note: I've had the life proof case on it, so no liquids have seeped into the phone, and no scratches or cracks in the screen have occurred!
