New hard drive will not fit completely

I'm trying to replace the HD in my MacBook Core 2 Duo and it's been going along smoothly but it will not go completely in to the computer. I see that the old drive has just the connections, but the new drive has connections that are surrounded by black plastic.

Did I get the wrong drive? Do I need to do something to make it so it is compatible with the MacBook? I'm not sure how to proceed from here.

The connections look exactly the same except for the black plastic.

Please tell us the make and model number of the drive you got.

Seagate. Model ST903203N1 I think it says. The hard drive seems to go in but I cannot get the L bar back on. That could very well just be me more than anything, though.

Even the Seagate web site has nothing on this old drive.

The label was kind of faded. My Best But order says ST903203N1A.

It says right on the box that it works with MacBooks, which makes me wonder if I'm just doing something wrong with the L bracket or something like that.

Here is the new drive. It seems the right size but the black plastic is different than the old drive and I think it's preventing it from making connection. I kind of messed around a little bit to see if there was a way to remove it, but I didn't want to be too zealous. There may be some type of adapter stuck on the end of this drive that can be pulled off. Can you post of picture of this black plastic? Also comport it to your old drive to see where, if any. the differences are. Is the drive to long or to thick?

This drive just pushes into the receptor slot, there's no L bar on the drive. If it's not going in all the way the rubber guides on the sides may be buggered up preventing full insertion.

In that particular case I assume I'll have to dig further in to figure out why it isn't working if I want to get anywhere with things?

tarafından

It was one of the rubber sides. I'm up and running now. Thanks for the help!
