Ipad mini Backlight comes on briefly at power on then shuts off

So I have this iPad Mini with the well known no backlight problem. In this case, the backlight comes on fine while the unit is charging, but as soon as it begins the boot process, it goes dark.

I'm wondering what component might be causing this fault. I don't believe it is the fuse because as far as I know, I would see no backlight at all.

What other components could be the culprit? And has anyone seen these particular symptoms before?

Did you ever solve this? I have the exact same issue. Replaced digitizer, now backlight comes on for a sec then turns off. The ipad continues to boot normally. Every time I reboot the backlight comes on for a moment, though.

Hi Cam, I assume you have already checked the brightness settings on the display? If you can see the settings while it's charging, set the brightness to maximum, then see if the screen shows anything while it is not charging. If the screen is still dim, try shining a bright light on the display and see if you can make out anything

Look through this Answers post, it has a lot of people with the same issue on an iPad 2, and many different solutions you can try.

It looks like this is often caused by fuses, but it seems odd that your LCD would work while charging, if that fuse really is blown. You can try watching these videos about the fuse location, and multimeter testing to see if your fuse is still good. This user has a video where he solders on a new fuse and fixed his Mini. You can find a new fuse on Amazon, but it will take careful soldering to replace.

Hi had the same issue after digitizer change, its about 10-15sec on then it dims... Hope that its not big problem.... Any ideas? Could it still be the fuse?
