Software o. 10.9.4 has been downloaded M.S excel does not work
I have downloaded 10.9.4 but m.s excel does not work what is the alternative option available please explain.

Sounds like you had an older version of MS Excel which is not 64bit. You could see if MS has an upgrade you may need to boot up under the older OS-X so you can do that.
Your other option is to get a copy of Apples Numbers application. Here's the link to the App Store were you can download it Numbers.
