Guidance needed on soldering / unsoldering on main boards?

Dear all,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a resource online, or your own advice, with guidance on unsoldering and soldering components such as charging ports, directly from main boards / motherboards?

I have been approached by someone wanting to replace their charging port on a Nokia phone (not sure of device) because of a fault. I recall the charging port being soldered to the main board rather than attached by a flex. I know this is possible and I would certainly like to add to my knowledge base and gain some experience with soldering with small components but where to start! ...
