Trying to identify my iMac with ifixit to buy a HD.

I followed their instruction to obtain the EMT number but then they only offered 2 processor speeds to further identify it which were not mine. Mine is 3.06 GHz on a intel 24" I mac early 2008.

Will I end up with the wrong hard drive because of this?

All of the 08/09 20-Inch and 24-Inch Aluminum iMac models have the same hard drive support, identification may not be a big issue. As long as the drive is (or can switch to) SATA II Serial ATA (3 Gb/s) you'll be fine.

Yup thanks for that machead3, just gradually getting my head around all this. Can't get used to the fact that this information isn't just in one place and have been bouncing around tons of sites gleaning tiny chunks of info here and there. That bit seems harder than actually installing a hard drive for the first time!
