The Contact Pin on the back of the watch have faded away on my watch, making it impossible to charge. Anyone else have that problem?

Ive had this problem like 4 diffrent times, luckily im under warranty.... the ppl at the samsung warranty department say they they never seen or heard of this problem

I also have this problem and there full of it if they havent heard or seen of this its a constant problem for the simple fact the place they put the connectors sits on top of wrist and sweat etc... constantly gets to it. to much moisture and i am going to have to send mine in again

Here in Oz. I had this problem. Samsung accepted it as a valid under warranty claim, once I was able to produce evidence of buying almost 2 years ago. Originally quoted around 10 days, messaged to say parts unavailable, finally got the 'it's ready' today. One whole month. At least Samsung appear to be honoring the warranty, or it may be Oz consumer law.

I finally got to pick up my repair. All done and fixed at no cost. Strange thing though, I couldn't see a couple of very tiny chips that I had in the front of the watch. Upon close inspection I realised the chips had been polished out or such. Later I inspected the watch closely and realised the one returned had a different serial number. When I checked the paperwork I got back with the watch, it showed that the charging pads part number was shown as being replaced, but the serial number of the watch had changed. It looks like I have been given an entire replacement watch. I am very happy.

I had the same problem just last week. Today I went to Fry's to buy a Circuit Writer. Cost about $20. It's a conductive pen that's similar to a paint pen.

I cleaned the back of the watch. Then used the pen to cover the faded areas of the contact pins, waited for it to dry, plugged it in, and BOOM... now IT CHARGES!

What an idea Sir ji . , Gonna try it asap . I had already packed my gear 2 neo 2 days back . Thanks

I bought circuit scribe pen from electroniks yesterday . It took me only 2 min to paint the terminals again. And bang . Me gear is charging again

I have the same issue....what type of pen do I need exactly. I see silver-based, acrylic based, etc.......just want to make sure I get the right one so I can give this a try. Thanks.

tarafından

Seems that any kind of conductive pen that may help complete the circuit will do. But as far as the best type to use for this application, has yet to be resolved.

My question now is, how can we prevent the fading of the charging pins from reoccurring? Are there any suggestions on what to do to protect the pins from further damage during heavy use.

I am a bit hesitant to wear the watch now bc I'm afraid of causing more damage that may be beyond repair.

I thought of covering the charging area with some type of non stick material such as foil or parchment paper in hopes to protect the pins from fading during sweaty, greasy, body funk use.

So please help and send your thoughts and suggestions.

I wore watch directly first time and all coating woreoff . Then i put a transparent tape on terminals . But when i was removing the tape it damaged coating and even the heart rate sensor cover came out ..

so right nw i have covered the bottom of watch with a tape with a piece of paper on terminals and HR sensor

You can by the Charging Conectors for the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 (SM-R380), Gear 2 Neo (SM-R381)

http://rounded.com/ cost is $10.82 each

Or in e-Bay for $15.00

I just order three as this part wears out with the wrist hand sweat.

Nice link! I just ordered a replacement back from here.

The photo doesn't show the pins explicitly, so I'm hoping they are just covered with a small sticker from the factory to protect. I'll report back with the results so the rest of you can know if this is a good fix.

Thanks!

Hope it helps, the contacts seem exactly the replacement part; however, I may need to order a back for the phone. Let us know if the back works for you. You will think the Samsung would have these parts available in the good USA ,,

Good luck

Hi, everyone. I received the part today (the watch back) today and unfortunately it does NOT include the contacts -- there is just a hole for the contacts to poke through.

So this won't work if you are looking to replace non-working charging contacts. Too bad, worth a shot though.

tarafından

Greg, I think that you order the back and that does not come with the contacts. What you needed to order was the contacts only. I received my and replaced the worn out one and now works like new.

I ordered the replacement contact part and it was a extremely easy swap out, just undo the 4 screws on the back, pry the top and bottom of the watch apart, pull the old contact pad off, put in the new contact pad, and reverse steps to put back together. Took me all of 2 minutes tops once I found a screwdriver to open it (either a T5 or T6 torx, cant remember which one it was). Now my watch is working like brand new!!!! Thanks for posting!!!!

Edited to ADD.......I tried the whole "Circuit Writer" fix and it worked only a few times. Had to keep reapplying and then eventually wouldn't work anymore.

Now they are selling that part itself on ebay for about 6USD. search for "New Original Charging Charger Connector For Samsung SM-R380 SM-R381 Gear 2 Neo" on ebay.

I have had the same problem and have had to send in my watch 3 differing times with the same issue. The good thing is each time samsung has replaced my watch head each time. My advise would be don't add nail polish as it may void the warranty.

I did not purchase the Samsung warranty at the time of purchase, it was already $300. After about a year, the gold contacts wore down and the device no longer charges. Samsung wants $250 for the repair, I'll get one on Amazon.com when the price drops below $100. Woo hoo U8 disposals! ●~kw

I tried covering the front of the contacts with copper adhesive band and it worked but a bit unstable as internal contacts require leveling.
