Screen with White Lines SOLVED

I have bought an iPhone 5C to repair and I have had a look and worked out the Parts I need to buy:

- Complete Display Assembly

- Set of Screws

- Dock Assembly

- Logic Board Grounding Clip

- Battery Metal Cover

- Digitiser Metal Plate

- Volume Buttons

I plugged in an old iPhone 5C display assembly I had lying around and the digitiser isn't working and there are lines going down the screen could this be the display or on the logic board?

I would really appreciate a quick reply!

I think the display is dodgy so have another one coming, so far I have successfully replaced the dock connector and volume buttons, just waiting for new screen and screw set to arrive!

The digitiser is not currently working on the screen i suspect is dodgy does the digitiser connector look alright? I have cleaned them with 70% isopropyl wipes!

Really wouldn't suprise me if it is a faulty screen, I've seen some shocking ones before when trying to find decent suppliers.

You can try plug it back in and kind of rock the lcd cables so they bend slightly different, if you see the lines fading/getting worse then there's an issue with the flex cable rather than the connector.

But you'll know for sure when the other arrives. :)

I am not sure if the display is at fault, although this is what I see when the screen is damaged or badly seated.

I am sure however that the 2 damaged connecters need to be replaced by someone with the proper tools and enough skill and experience to successfully replace the connectors without causing any damage around them.

The only connector that is damaged is the digitiser, the earpiece and front camera connector had dirt on it which cleaned off when cleaned with isopropyl

Pictures 4 and 5 counting from top. If that black spot on the right-most connector is dirt, not a missing prong, then yes only your digitizer connector is damaged, and the above answer still applies.

Ok thanks it was dirt if you look at the picture right at the bottom, thats it after its been cleaned, is there a chance that the digitiser cable will work still? If not do you replace Digitiser FPC Connectors?

Tom--your white lines in your display are definitely due to your damaged digitizer connector. You'll need to send that out for replacement if you want to fix this 5c.

The rest of the screen abnormalities are probably just poor connection, static--which will fade, or a bad screen.

You're right that your cam connector was just dirt.

Make sure that you are certain this phone will clear the iCloud activation lock before you put too much more time into it. You realize that in a disabled phone that you don't know the passcode for to unlock it will have to be put into recovery mode and restored. After restore, the activation wizard will require you to enter the original owner's Apple ID and Apple passcode. You'll need to know this information, or have had the original owner clear this device from their account before you can use it.
