Backlight issue possibly motherboard

Hi guys

OK i now its not the screens as i have tried several good screens which all work great on other iPhone 5's which i have since fitted onto customers iPhones no one has come back with any issues.

So it has to be something else i have reset the iPhone back to factory settings & had the battery off for a few weeks to hopefully reset it but no joy there.

This was my personal iPhone & its as if it knew it was being replaced as this happened a couple of days before my upgrade which was back in November last year.

I have never had to do any work on this iPhone so its always had the original screen on it original battery ETC in fact i have never had to open it up until this happened i thought it was going to be quite a simple backlight repair.

Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I have seen this before on an iPhone5 that sustained liquid damage. We replaced the backlight IC and it was good as gold again.

Hi Con this would be something i would like to be able to do.

Since i have had my carpal tunnel operations my soldering skills has gone out of the window.

I don't think this would be something done with a soldering iron i would be keen to know or even learn how to perform these types of repairs.

Kenny--what is the history of this phone and problem?

Usually a blown backlight filter is to blame, or LCD connector damage---but this only happens at a screen replacement, not just on its own.

Hi Jessa this was my personal phone that i bought from Apple direct just before i left the company to start up my own repair centre in Feb 2013.

It was always kept in a case with a Zagg screen protector & i had never had to do any work on it at all this issue was the first hardware issue the iPhone has ever had (apart from a few software issues that resetting didn't resolve).

This issue happened 3 months before i was due my upgrade but my phone provider allowed me to upgrade early.

I'm hoping to get it back into a working condition if i'm able to do the repair myself i would. I would be keen to learn how to perform motherboard level repairs. I know this is not a repair that can be done by hand soldering & if it were i would not be able to perform it as i have had carpal tunnel operations on both hands & I'm now very shaky so hand soldering is a no no these days
