Skip Sys PWR check (bad RT8205L/M power controller chip)

Hello,

I have a Toshiba laptop that was given to me after it died. I have found a clearly burned logic chip. It had the following: EM DJ\n??B on it. The "?" are two somethings that were burned off. I have a picture if anyone is interested. Anyway, it is a RichTek, RT8205L/M high efficiency laptop power supply controller. Is there a way to "hotwire" the motherboard to skip over this and see it it will boot? I don't want to waste my time trying to find other issues if replacing the part does not work—I've been over the MOBO thoroughly so if something else is bad it is not something I can visually detect.

Thanks,

MrDoldrum
