Front Panel Replacement doesn't fit right

How do i make the replacement front panel to close as the original panel. For some reason it doesn't close all the way and stays sticking out and i am able to see light of the lcd through the side of the phone.

I’m also haveing this problem. Tried a lot of suppliers. It seems the copies aren’t great. . LCD is not as slim as originals. And light coming from left side. Always hit or miss if screens going to fit correctly or not. Very frustrating. Anybody notice black screens seem ok? Or I’m guessing the colour hides more imperfections. Just not sure.

tarafından

Did you make sure that you replaced the LCD gasket that goes between the frame and screen? If you didn't that is most likely your problem.

tarafından

hi can you explain what you mean by gasket? would like to hear any good ideas on fixing this problem some screens are fine some are terrible gaps around sides. thanks lee

tarafından

There is a gasket that is called frame bezel seal which can be found on eBay. I have also found that any imperfections on the plastic lip of the screen replacement will cause terrible alignment issues (corners raised) . I simply had the original screen in order to observe what the replacement should look like, so anything that looked wrong was carefully removed with a xacto knife.

hi iphone 6 doesnt have bezel seal.

Is this light leak near to the mute button?

This is a common problem with aftermarket screens, although they look identical they appear to stick up slightly causing light leak.

Personally I think it is a design fault as there are no screen clips on the chassis at the point around the mute button which leaves a large space not being secured to the phone. Sometimes it pops up slightly causing this light leak. I am pretty sure when the next model comes out Apple will address this issue.

Sometimes the issue is caused by the glue failing along the sides. This causes light to leak between the glass and frame.

Hope this helps a bit

Regards

John

I have had this problem to on a 6 and a 6 plus i just put a dot of superglue on the 6 plus and a little presure. on the 6 I decided to thin out the plastic on the after market screen where its raised ie along the volume buttons and in the top corner using a new stanley knife blade heated up and a bit of patience and when i put it together it was much better although i put a spot of glue on this too only try if you are confident enough to do this as if you are not careful you could damage your new screen

i would just try to get some double sided adhesive to stick it down.

Double sided tape is not strong enough in my experience.

I'm having this problem too. I had it twice this week, also right near the mute button. On the first phone, I thought maybe the frame was bent or something. Now that it's happened again on a second phone, I'm frustrated.

I tested both phones to see if the frames were possibly bent. Basically, I took the screen off and laid the phone face down. The phones laid flat and evenly so I'm sure that this wasn't a bendgate problem.

I like the suggestion that Apple should put a clip somewhere by the mute button, but that doesn't help the current situation. Has anyone else had this light leakage problem after replacing an iphone 6 screen? What's a good work-around?

My screens are higher quality from a supplier that I trust.

I suggest you talk with your provider, as some frames are not as good as the original and therefore the screen doesn't fit well.

tarafından

You shouldn't be getting this issue anymore, unless you're buying extremely cheap screens.

Ged where do you purchase your iPhone 6 screens?

tarafından

Mostly from China, there's a few companies, one I used to use that was decent is called iceagle, they were good when I used to use them.

But these days we do more refurbishing, not only does this save on a major amount of money, it also means we know what quality we are using, as we can use original cold press frames (which stops screens coming away from frames, with OEM/original quality glass, basically making it like an original screen.

There are places that sell refurbished screens also.

Hello Ged, my name is Lucas, I have pretty much given up on iphone replacements years ago, and recently tried again with screens purchased from ifixit.com. Still having same issue with light leak. I tried to razor the plastic thin myself and ruined the LCD. Lol. Anywho, I hate iPhones because of the low quality screen options. Can you assist another company into getting into refurbs as you have, or obtaining higher quality screens? Please and thank you. My email lward0617@yahoo.com. Thank you much. NOT A SCAM, I am legitimate and looking to get better for business.

had one today. And I bent the frame slightly back. (With hands)The phone had a slight bend in frame!! This can cause light leak. And light leak got better(less). I think a good glue and Clamp is a great idea for this problem

You don't get light leak if you're using original or really good quality screens, as the backlights have black stickers that block the light running down the side, so you wouldn't see it even with a bend.

tarafından

they literally never claimed that. they are giving a possible solution for the problem people want solved. not "get a better screen," jeez...

tarafından

The solution is to get better quality screens, that's what you obviously don't understand, you're very ignorant on the matter that's for sure.

Better quality screens have black tape on the back of the backlight, this prevents any light leaking out of the sides, therefore, before you decide to say that it isn't a solution, at least know what you're talking about Brie.

I know this is old but I'm having a nightmare ... same problem but i have 7 screens 8 heat shields and 5 frames and 3 iPhone 6 phones. All have slightly different problems but all slightly do not fit ... argh! They are from many different sources so surely they can't all be duff! The screens mostly seem to fit without anything on them but at the final fitting something always goes wrong! Tried almost every combo of testing now... what could it be? One thing i thought of was... do you need the sponge bits on the side clamps for the screen to hold properly and were do you buy them? Tnx

i heard it is the hot glued screens that do not fit. I once found a seller on ebay who sold cold glued screens, he is in the US and i didnt purchase one yet, because i live in europe... but i guess on the next occasion ill try it out

tarafından

Hmm ok possibly but I've progressed on my multiple problems :) . Also i had fitted 5 screens from the same companies before with no problems. I've managed to make one fit... Just but there's still some pressure behind the screen :( . I'm getting that rainbow squashed lcd thing but can't see anything pushing i do wonder about how accurate the frame needs to be in terms of flatness I'm only getting a minuet sliver of light under the frame on a flat surface but then again is the surface totally flat and the screen :s. Anyway onwards and upwards :s ...
