MacBook Pro turns on with a black screen.

have owned a macbook pro early 2008 with logic board a1260 for two years. One day, the screen turn white on me, and won t boot to bootcamp or yosemite. the computer won t even turn on. When the power button is pressed, the small white light in front turns on, but the computer turns off within 1 second. I decided to change a few parts. I initially suspected the hhd based on online forums, changed it, but that didn t help, so i changed the memory from 2gb to 4gb with a new one after haven t read that when i hear three chimes on boot up ( which happened before the computer stopped turning on all together), then the memory is definitely the issue. That didn t help either, so i changed the HDD, then finally changed the logic board today replacing it with the same a1260 model in good working conditions, the computer now turns on with a dark screen and a green

Update

I tried it and it didn't work out. I'll just sell that laptop on eBay for $100 and get me something different. Thanks guys for all the reply. I don't fixing it is worth the time anymore.

Thanks for the reply guys, but I replaced the Logic board which contains the GPU, so I don't think that's the problem. I altogether replaced HDD with a new WD drive, replaced the 2gb memory with a new 4gb memory from Samsung (same brand as the oem originally installed), and finally replaced the mother board with a well tested and working a1260 purchased from eBay. Boot by pressing power on keyboard, nothing. Disconnect the keyboard and used a tool to boot with those two dots on the logic board, and that didn't help.. I have literally blown away $600 and replaced almost the entire laptop just to make it work, but nothing...now I wonder if heat sinks or screen has anything to do with the computer not booting, which are practically the only two major parts left unreplaced.

There is no such thing as a good motherboard for this. These were junk when they were new which was eight and a half years ago; anything left now is something that someone reflowed or reballed or heatgunned to get it to work just long enough to pass eBay 30 or 45 day chargeback policy. There are as many good GPUs on A1226 machines as there are dodo birds left in the world. This machine had its time, and its time has passed. Return everything that is returnable and move on!

This is how the interior of the United States got settled. The wagon broke down and they said "this looks like a good place to live".

Bad GPU, dump it. It's three or four years outside Apple's replacement plan for this machine, and if you want to fix it independently you'll need $2000 to $7000 in BGA rework equipment to fix a $100 motherboard. If you fix it or replace it, it'll just keep failing, you do not find new GPUs to seven year old motherboards unfortunately. :(

Many of these machines were condemned to early retirement because of the bad GPU reputation. Your symptoms indicate (on the board with the white screen), a bad I/O board. MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 and A1260 Left I/O Board Replacement

This board supports video, airport card and some battery functions. This is a part that can easily have two functions working and a third not so sellers send out a lot of defective boards unknowingly. I would get this particular part from iFixit and have the lifetime warranty. Care must been taken when identifying the part also as there are slight differences and the boards are not interchangeable between machine models. The tell tale is the cable insertion socket. On some it is male, others female.

Did you change the the smaller board on the left with that the magsafe plugs into ? It has the fuse for the backlight on it. I see Mayer pointed that but did'nt tell you that the fuse is located on it not the mainboard.

put one stick of the old memory in with the new, turn it on, if it works turn it off, put new stick of memory back in and it should work. This happened to me a while ago. I don't know why it worked but I was just messing around with it trying to get it to work and it just suddenly worked...
