turns on but only until the samsung logo

I was watching a video in my tab when it suddenly turned off. I turned it back on, but it turned off immediately when I tried to unlock the screen. I tried it again and again, but it still turned off every time I tried unlocking the screen again. I connected my tab to my laptop to charge it, but instead of showing on the screen that it is charging, it turns on instead but only until the Samsung name, it doesn't go to the home screen or lock screen. I tried leaving it at that for a few minutes, thinking it just needed to be charged, but when I looked at it again the screen still shows the samsung name, and the tab became hot. I turned it off by holding the power button for a few seconds, and tried charging it using its charger instead of connecting to my laptop. Instead of showing that it is charging, it turns on immediately but only until the fade-blinking samsung name.

How do I fix this?
