Brownish specks appear consistently on my screen

After replacing the battery on my iPhone 5, two small patches of brownish specks appeared on my screen, they look sort of like cracker crumbs underneath the screen. During the operation I accidentally started to peel the display assembly apart (the screen and the LCD) also I had to clip in the LCD ribbons a few times. Would the specks most likely be from damage to the ribbons or the LCD itself?

Also the right side of the screen is raised ever so slightly and won't clip in. Would this be from the clip breaking? Thanks in advance, sorry for the long post.

Edit: These are the dots

And the possible broken clip

The dots are most likely something that got in between the layers of the backlight. It's also possible that they're due to damage to the layers of the backlight. The backlight has several layers which diffuse the light evenly over the whole screen and any damage or foreign material in there will show up on the display.

Thank you very much. It isn't a big problem, but next time I'm repairing a phone (fortunately this was my own) I'll know to be more careful

Most likely, but post a photo. That will help determine the cause.
