Data recovery after logic board defect

Dear everybody. My Macbook 12" dosn't charge the battery any more but i need to retrieve the data before letting it repair (apple swaped the usb-board and now wants to exchange the logic board).

i then connected the logic board directly with a laboratory power supply and supplied it with 7.55 volts (that's what it is written on the battery). The computer seems to start up, but ends with the sign, that i need to charge the battery first.

Does anybody have an idea, how to get the Macbook running for one last time? How hight would you go with the voltage?

Or would it be possible to charge the battery with just the + and - contacts?

Can i just check with you because my Mac 12" was liquid damaged so do you think if we moved the logic board to another Mac, would it work so we could move the data? We think maybe the Keyboard has shorted out with the damage. W have already cleaned out the rest of the computer with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Taluth. This seams difficult to say. My Macbook still worked for a short tim after the incident. I just couldn't charge or use the usb-connector. Was yours dead immediately? It's rather painful to buy a new Macbook just to exchange the logic board. And it's very inconvenient that Apple has no tool to save the data from a wrecked Macbook (jet). I would say it all depends on the value of the data. And there is no guarantee that it will work.

See if you can boot it up in Target mode and move your user folder to another hard drive. Here's how: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204360

In my case the USB connection wasn't working anymore (Apple had replaced the USB-C board and cable in the Macbook without success). It's a real disadvantage to have only one combined USB-C/power plug...

If you get a working board you should be able to charge the battery and run it off the battery. Not sure if apple will want to let you do this though

It looks like the energy management on my board was out of order. I tried to power the board with the + and - contacts without success (the computer starts in low power mode and asks for a charge). Then i tried to charge each cell separately - again without success. I finally transplanted the board into a second macbook and could load off the data via wifi ;o(

So you were able to get it powered on?? and get your data??

Yes, luckily. The replacement was not easy. Things are tiny.
