Touch not working after replacing glass ipad mini 2

I got a iPad Mini 2. The digitizer and LCD were both broken. So I changed the LCD and it is working fine. I tested the ipad before closing it but the touch screen does not respond, or it responds strangely. I have tried now with 4 different digitizers with same result. And I have not bent the cable (I know all about that). Take a look at a video I took here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8z63y3t1rqsr18...

I checked the digitizer connector and it seems fine. What am I doing wrong?

As you see when I press the touch screen the area is marked with at box. I was now able to get past the first screen but when I press the keyboard on the screen the keys are marked with a border around the key but nothing shows in the password field.

**UPDATE**

I tried to put back the original digitizer to test it even if it is broken. No better luck. But now the iPad boots to the Apple logo and then goes black. I have to unplug the battery and start up again and the same thing happens, Apple logo - then black! What the heck is happening?

**UPDATE**

Like I wrote in my comment down under everything is working now!

Almost looks similar to the touch exploration function on other tablets, may be dumb, but have you tried triple clicking the home button? Just a thought.

@Regency Tech, I think I tried about everything before restoring it.

Thanks for input and I actually solved this myself.

Like I wrote, I have been through all the common issues with iPad Mini and others and was very careful this time. Still it just got worse the more I worked on it. In the end I even entered a boot loop. The solution was to force the iPad into DFU mode and restore it like a new iPad. To my surprise this fixed everything. I was not expecting such luck, but then again I had inspected every contact and could not find anything wrong. Here is my advice:

1) Always power down, disconnect battery before other connectors.

2) Try to cover up new iPad digitizer contacts/exposed metal like the original, if not able to rescue old adhesive, use capton tape to cover exposed contacts.

3) Always be careful when you lift up on the connectors. E.g. lift the battery connector from the battery side.

4) Test touch before putting it together. For the iPad Mini be very careful that the digitizer cable is folded down inside the casing and watch out so it does not stick to the frame and folds. This was my earlier nightmare with crazy touch behaviour.

Patience and slowly, slowly does pay back!

My guess is there's an issue with your digitizer socket. The boot loop you're in, is a consistent problem, when constantly messing around with digitizers. You probably have to replace the digitizer socket, and put the tablet into dfu mode, to be able to restore it

I was able to put the ipad in DFU mode and reset and restore it. Now my first digitizer works perfectly. So it must have been just screwed up. I checked the digitizer contact and it looked fine. I have been carefull every time I disconnect a cable and always first unplugging the battery. I will update when I put everything together again. BTW is it important to put on a new foam list along the screen or is that not important? What do you do?

Alright. Now that you've got it back to working order. Try one of the new digitizers. Make sure to power down before you start the repair. You want the new part to be as close to what it originally looked like. Could be you'll need some kapton tape to cover up a few parts. But maybe not. Again. Make sure to power the phone down, before you start your repairs

Thanks @iMedic. Yes, I learned these 2 things from earlier mistakes:

1) Always power down, disconnect battery before other connectors.

2) Try to cover up new iPad digitizer like the original, if not able to rescue old adhesive, use capton tape to cover exposed contacts.

And always careful where I lift up on the connectors. E.g. lift the battery connector from the battery side. Patience and slowly does pay back!
