MBA11 E 2014 Water damage. No response after cleanup. Or xmas miracle

Hi everyone,

I know it's repeated issue and I know because I have read every single article about it, but still no answer, so, hope you can help me out here.

The facts:

-Spilled maybe 50ml of beer (like the neck of a long neck) over my MBA 11 inch Early 2014.

-unpluged it and turned it off, fliped over and dry the outside, bang my head for being stupid.

-Aparently I was drunk and thought it wasn't too much so, after a few minutes of cleaning I turned it back on. It was ok, until it was not and it shut itself off, just like my brain before that. Anyway, I started reading every sinlge thread on water damage ever written.

-Next morning I checked on it and It turned on but it wasn't charching (no green/orange light). So, I closed everything and went to buy a shiny pentalobe 1.2 and a T5. Once it was open, I cleaned every bit I could see, but not underneath the transistors and $@$* but got rid of all the beer and corrotion. Waited until dry and try again. It was charging and it was working. Well done pal, I said to myself, you earned a beer, away from you MBA this time.

I started doing some back up and it just died.

So then I opened it again but with a new gang, distilled water, brush and isopropyl alcohol and bathed the bits down, dry and putted everything back where it belonged but it didn't came back. There's a green light on the magsafe, but it won't turn on.

Sorry for the long post but I feel this as a full support group, not just tech. ha.

Well, my question now is, what should I replace now?

the I/O Board is working and the battery seams to be fine, physically as it wasn't reached by the beer (maybe it's damaged too, how do I check?). So I'm guessing the worst. Logic board.

What do you guys/gals think, what would you do?

Thanks every one and iFixit for giving back to the people their right to fix their own $@$*. Amen.

You were doing great till you went with distilled water. Clean only with Isopropal alcohol 99% is best or sonic bath. you need to undo all fasteners and connectors (it important connectors be completely dry before reconnecting) and clean then. Then crack out the magnifying glass and look for burn marks discoloration swollen capacitors and any other damage to the board. Finally the battery didn't have to get wet to get fried. A surge or short from the board can do that Hope this helps

Thanks for that.

I used water first and then isopropyl to displace the water, not a mixture of both.

So, can I carry on with more cleaning/bathing in isoprop and the MBA can be still safe? How can I chek if the battery is fried then?

Thanks again.

if you find burn spots on the board or any other damage then yes you need to replace it and as for testing the battery a multi meter will give you a good idea use the specs on the battery
