iPhone 6s screen repair "Non-OEM Hardware Detected" during restore

Not so much a question. Just wanted to share this information that we experienced for anyone who is going to do iphone 6s screen replacements.

We did a screen replacement after repair was completed. We then tested everything even TouchID. Customer then took it back home to restore device through iTunes. Customer stated the restore went halfway, stopped and then popped a message on the screen stating "Non-OEM Hardware Detected". We did not replaced the TouchID home button, just the screen assembly.

Since we still had original screen, we put back the original screen then restored the device to our surprised it worked 100%. We believe 3D touch panel is married to the phone itself, just as the Touch ID button was in the iPhone 6. Device has restored fully. Touch ID is reading perfectly. Going to try to transfer the 3D touch panel to the new replacement screen and test.

This is so far first and only device that we experienced this issue and we are still not 100% if this for every iphone 6s screen replacement.

Updated

We glad to see everything actively testing this issue out and glad to hear that the issue hasnt happen to anyone else. We do apologies for the scare and also not having the proof to show our claim. If we do come across this issue again we will provide pictures and or video. If anyone else can recreate this odd issue we had please let us know. :) Thank you

What was the reason for restoring? Doing a simple screen repair generally doesn't require a restore.

tarafından

im assuming its the same with the 6 home buttons....all good UNTIL you do a restore...

tarafından

Customer took it home to restore. Not sure exactly why. Maybe to sell the unit. Customer then brings it back to inform us of the issue. We then saw it for ourselves.

That's a pretty big bummer if it's true...

Apple is full of surprises. The big giant strikes again huh? lol

**Update** I have tested with an iphone 6s restored to ios 9.2 via itunes and it works fine. no errors or pop-ups. Not an issue! I used a non oem replacement screen during the whole restore.

Thank you!! For the reply. If more are more willing to test this out I'll be glad to close this thread. I'm just curious to why it happen to us. We are going to buy an iPhone 6s to test this again for ourselves. Maybe it was just that screen. Not sure.

well don't close the thread---let's figure this out. What is your supplier for the screen that triggered the error? What parts did you transfer from the original screen?

tarafından

Supplier to me is unknown since I'm not in charge of that department. They tell me it's OEM quality so they say. All I know it's over sea aka china. Been using them without issue for iphone 6 screen. We transfer everything as if it was iphone 6. Original Proxy/camera/ear speaker flex. The original TouchID.

Also FYI I used mengtor for my 6s screens. Great quality as well.
