Hello,
I have a mid 2009 a 1278. Just bought a new screen and its still black. If I put a flash light on the back I can see the screen display and everything.
I noticed I'm missing the backlight LED fuse can it be that?

What is the history of this laptop? How, when, why did the backlight stop working?
IMHO, screens themselves rarely go bad, compared to backlight circuit (cable, connector, fuse, backlight driver, filters, etc.).
You need to troubleshoot that circuit first. Easiest would be to find the number of the board (820-xxxx), google for schematics, find the fuse and test it for continuity and short to ground on both sides, then report back.
If the symptoms before and after replacing the screen are the same (i.e. no backlight) try to return that screen and don't be buying any more parts until you determine the actual cause.

The laptop was bought in my university the guy that sold to me said the logic board is bad and he showed me this part but the part he showed me was a battery and since a friend borrowed me his hdmi cable and connector and his charger i could use my mac and the battery hold 3 hours of charge i was thinking it was something else

Backlight fuse most likely missing. You'll need to get a new one soldered on there. If you arent familiar with soldering then I'd get a computer technician to repair it for you.

Can you take a good hires picture of the main logic board where the display cable connects so we can see it and the missing fuse location. Paste it into your question so we can see.

I just had the exact same problem, and I paid KT Electronics to repair the motherboard. Problem solved for me. Bump for Dan.

Sorry the picture doesn't show much here. Can you take a fresh one that has less glare and in focus. Also you'll need to zoom in a bit (take a few pics).

Hook it up to an external monitor and see if it generates a picture. Does it tone up (POST)?

hello yes if i disconnect the screen from the board and hook it up to my external monitor i can use my computer also i notice that i can plug it back and turn it on and use a flash light on the back and i can see the computer desktop screen and everything
