New digitizer won't work on my iPod? Also won't fit flush

I tried to replace the digitizer on my iPod nano 7 and it was working, but I couldn't get the digitizer to fit flush into the iPod itself. So I undid everything and started back over, now the digitizer either doesn't touch what I want, touches things on its own, or won't touch at all
