iPad mini rendering problem after replacement of front glass

Hello,

I replaced the broken glass of my iPad mini 2 retina. After that, the screen show some weird vertical lines and bands. When I rotate the ipad, those lines will change place or disappear. It seems missing 1/2 of resolution. Please take a look at the images below. See that battery icon ? It lost the 2 horizontal lines. Text rendering is more obvious. It lost anti-alias.

The glass of replacement seems to be a suitable and solid product (for ipad mini 1 and 2, lots of positive reviews). I tested 2 different brands of glass. But the problem persist.

Is this problem due to the LCD screen or I broke something else ?

I think the LCD screen has become damaged after you lifted up the LCD. Probably the ribbon cable getting damaged. There are no cracks visible on the screen right?

This is caused by damaging the lcd when you remove it for the glass repair. The lcd is very very fragile in these models. Even if you dont crack it, which you didnt, the lcd near the bottom can be damaged when removing the adhesive that hold the lcd down. You need another lcd to fix this issue. I've fixed 100's of iPad mini's and Ive seen this issue before.

What's your technique of lifting up the LCD on some iPad minis? I use a thin wide prying tool with some wire to separate the adhesive under the LCD. Well I can use the heatgun to heat up the adhesive a bit before doing it.

Your method sounds good. This issue can happen when you are removing the adhesive strips from the bottom that hold the LCD in place. The ones that have the little black strips on top. If you put too much pressure down on that area, it will damage the lcd. I've damaged the lcd by forgetting to remove the adhesive all the way and pulling up too fast with the adhesive still attached. The lcd didnt crack, but my screen was washed out looking and had lines on one side. I replaced the lcd and all was well.

Thank you for your help. You are right, I pulled a little hard when removing the adhesive.

No problem. iPad mini repairs can and are highly frustrating because of the lcd being so fragile. Luckily the parts arent too high. Im glad I could shed a little light on the situation.
