installed new inverter, screen still goes dim

replaced the inverter board because the screen was going dim and it appeared to work for a short period of time, but now the problem has resumed. when it does go dim, if I use the brightness controls and turn the brightness all the way down and then back up the screen lights for a while, but it still goes dim from time to time (at which point I can employ the same trick to re-light the screen)... any thoughts on what the problem may be if it's not the inverter board?

as an aside, I did not take apart the entire macbook to replace the inverter - I was able to access the inverter by simply removing the hinge cover. I read about this tactic on MacRumors forum.

I've taken pictures on this method of repair but have not put it up yet. Had to shave off one retainer clip on the clutch cover to get it to go all the way down. How was your Display Data Cable? Hook up to an external monitor to see if the problem persists.

This guide is far from ready as I am just getting it up today but it may help: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD & Inverter A1181 (fast method) Replacement

Yeah, that clutch cover can be a real pain to get back on just right.

I used a scalpel to trim off the very bottom of both ends (just one per end). I have not put this in the manual yet. Do you have a better way? My guide cut about two hours off this repair.

mayer - I had to force it a little, but it wasn't too hard to get the hinge cover off without removing anything except for the plastic bezel and three screws. I did however have a lot of trouble getting the clutch cover back in place. I actually physically broke one inverter board trying to replace the cover. eventually I just lightly scored the cover with a hacksaw so that I could unfold it and easily slip it around the inverter and associated wires - once it snaps back in place and is screwed in place you would never know, it is just as sound as ever. I will try to upload a photo or two tomorrow to show you what i mean...
