The screen backlight not working 12 hours after a repair.

Hello everyone.

I'm a repair man for 3 years now and I repair phone every day for the past 3 years and I have never seen this before.

I have replaced iPhone 6S screen for a costumer of mine and 12 hours later she came back claiming the screen isn't working. looking at the device it looks like the backlight is not working in addition looking closely on the board I didn't see anything suspicious that could have gone wrong during this repair.

I have tried 2 other screens + her original apple screen and the problem is still there so I know that there is something wrong with the board that I cused it.

Any of you know what I did wrong in this repair so I could fix it?

Could it be a backlight IC? if so can any of you show me where it's located? I tried to look on-line for this and I didn't find anything...

Phone was turned off battery was not disconnected.

Did you disconnect the battery prior to doing the screen replacement? It should always be the first thing you do after you take out the two pentalobe screws and lift up the screen.

Backlight ic is usually near the LCD connector on the logic board. I think you could check to short to ground / continuity on components to find it if I'm correct (Isn't it like a fuse to the backlight or is it more than just that?).

1. I have mentioned that I didn't disconnected the battery at the replacement.

2. I have done hundreds of repairs and never disconnected the battery so I know if that's the reason for that.

3. It happened 12 hours after the repair and it's the first iPhone 6s that did that to me.

do you have any suggestion on how to fix that? I don't want to lift the shilds up if it's not absolutely neccesery because maybe I could return this to apple....

Well we always unplug the battery just to be safe when we repair phones, laptops and etc. It usually avoids weird issues like this.

I don't know if this is true but another repair shop on here said that they replaced a few iPhone 6S screens where some customers came back about a week later and it was the backlight issue. They think it may be the screens causing it to go bad which I kind of find that hard to believe.

It's a step that doesn't take much time to do and the only downside is that you usually have to set date and time back with Wi-Fi, Cellular data or iTunes. If you do encounter a iPhone with disabled for a million minutes syncing the date and time with that method may fix it (I know this is irrelevant to the question)
