Can I recover my data from a restore without back up?

Okay so I got this old iPhone as a present and up until recently the only problem it had was the battery problem that everybody gets when a iPhone gets to old. So basically it died somehow and wouldn't turn back on. So I finally decided to get a new battery. I got one and replaced the battery and it was all fine. But when I turned on the iPhone 5 and tried to put in my password [4-number password] it didn't accept it. So basically what happened is something changed my password or replacing the battery caused a reset to the password. So I couldn't get on at all. So I tried a few of my old passwords [I reset my passwords from time to time for reasons] none of them would work. So I tried setting up a backup for my data on my iPhone from a computer. Wouldn't allow access without the password I didn't have. So I got no backup at all. So I decided to restore my iPhone which deleted everything. Now I have nothing which I knew would happen. I know that there is probably no way to restore the data but maybe someone does know a way. All the data I really need is the contacts and phone numbers of my friends, family, etc. If anybody can figure out in any way thank you so much.

Here are some problems before I had replaced the battery.

I would go out with my phone [at 100%] and use it occasionally which with almost every occasion I used it usually somehow dropped about 10% each time and more battery percentage losses for longer uses which would cause my battery to go all the way down to about 20% and then eventually it would go down to 1% but then it would actually last quite awhile then which makes me believe that my iPhone could not detect the battery life accurately. And to describe what happened to the battery right before I switched it was that it was acting up on a simple errand drive and got down to about 11% battery. So I plugged it up and then for some reason started acting up more so I got home and charged it, and by every time I plugged it in, it would display the battery Icon with no life, and no percentage at all under it [Even though in the top right corner where it displays battery life it said 11%] so I decided to restart my phone by holding the power button down and sliding the power off that appears. So that is when it died and the "Needs to charge to power up again" display appeared so I plugged it up. Though something messed up because I charged it for about 14 hours and it was still not even able to get off the charging low battery screen even though I'm sure it was charging because every time I took off the charger it would detect that and said it needs to be plugged in. I'm adding all this just in case it helps at all.

This whole not restarting at all thing happened once before where it died and would need to be charged in which it started charging at about around the middle of the night to about morning where when it did restart it had 100% battery life.

[Side note I don't really know how to type these sort of things so sorry for grammar errors and all that]

if your lucky your contacts might be connected with your icloud, gmail, hotmail, etc.

I've switched phones recently (iphone) and found out my contacts were saved to my hotmail, all i had to do is log in with the apple mail app and it got all my contacts back
