i recently restored an iphone that i bought off a friend, it wasnt jailbroken or anything, now it wont get past the emergency call menu and keeps telling me to insert sim, iv inserted another sim but no good, is there anything i can do to get it to work???please help....

plug it into iTunes, it may need a carrier update.

Take it back to the Apple store; they should be able to set you up with a SIM that works or replace the phone under warranty.

Check with the carrier that phone isn't blocked/reported stolen
