i recently had the battery unhooked from my 2007 ford escape and when i hooked it back up the cd player shows that there are no cd's loaded but in fact there are 6 loaded and were loaded prior to unhooking the battery. how do i reset the cd player so that the cd player will recognize that they are there?

Remove the front panel of the car CD player > Press the Reset button you will find after removing the player panel > press the button once using some thing stick > reintsall the panel.

will this work for the factory cd player or is this for an aftermarket cd player?
Where is this button you talk about? I've had mine off at least three times and I cannot find a button to reset anything.
I failed to mention that my Escape has the Audiophile CD-6 system in it, does this make any difference?
Reggie, yes, It's a different player. Is it showing an eject error?

I had the same problem. I'm not sure which unit you have but mine is the Audiophile, the upgraded version with an amp and bass booster hidden in the passenger side back panel. I took the unit to this electronic fix it guy, he said it would cost me at least $250, I laughed and said see you later. He said the motor was frozen up so I accepted that. I went to ebay and found one exactly like mine for $125 so I bought it. I installed it and it's like new. My point is most likely you won't find anyone who can fix this problem unless you want to pay that much which to me it isn't worth it. Please remember this is about my Audiophile unit not the stock one. Hope this gives some insight.

i do have 2002 ford escape the radio wont start but sometimes is coming in but most of the time is always off. can someone help me with this? tnx guys

My 03 escape xlt cassettes won't load or come out if any in there!!!. Eject button not doing anything.

The issue could be resolved by doing the following:
1. Remove and unplug the unit using DIN tools (2 u-shaped tools that fit into holes on your stereo. Get them at most automotive stores) Instructions: https://youtu.be/zEyijBM1xMQ (It might require a fair bit of wiggling, unlike in the video)
2. Unscrew and remove the top metal casing plate
3. Manually remove the top disc, which should be accessible through the top of the device.
Once you replace the unit it should automatically recognize the remaining discs and allow you to use the machine as normal.
