Tire Pressure Light is on even though the tires don't need air.

My tire pressure warning light has come on several times on my 2004 RAV4. I've had a mechanic reset it before and check the tire pressure. The tires are fine, but the light ends up coming on again. Could this be an issue with the electrical wiring? I just care because I would like the warning light to actually provide a warning if the tires are low.

Thanks everyone. I'll try the reset procedure first and then check out the batteries.

we bought a used 2007 Toyota Rav4 in October 2014.. in May the low tire light came on we put air in the tire but not sure if it was enough air. The tire light went off. The tire light came back on several days later. I took the car to Bedards and had them inspect the tire. I was told that the rear TPMS sensor was leaking. I was told that ETHOS does not cover TPMS sensors. I have the Summit Platinum under the High Tech System under what is covered it lists driver information gauges/indicators relating to the operation of the vehicle. Wouldn't a leak in the tire sensor be a safety issue especially if on a long trip when driving after maintenance hours. I had Bedards call the Ethos line twice because the tech thought it would be covered with a 50.00 deductable then told me it wasn't covered. Has anyone else had this problem. $160.00 for one sensor seemed expensive but necessary. When I brought the car in for service the low tire light was not on at the time.

same problem, my car supposedly only had 14 miles (2014) Murano ( Nissan), told sensors not covered?

'10 ram, 2500. Tpms still comes on after I reset the code. Tire pressure is fine literally. In fact, the other tires are lower in pressure. Normal pressure is @70 psi. The tpms is flashing @66 psi. But the other tires read 64psi and yet the 66psi is the one flashing.

I have a 2007 Lexus ES 350 and I've had a low air tire pressure problem just recently I filled the tires with air and the light went off then it came back on i bought a tire gauge and I had too much air in all the tires so I reduced the air and the light came back on so I took it to a friends mechanic and he told me I need a new tire sensor so I priced it for $100 dollars so I took it to Mavis and they tested the tires with the computerized tire tester and they confirmed that I need two front tire sensors and I need to have the sensors programmed to the tires and I have to take it to a Toyota or a Lexus dealer and that's gonna be very expensive. Now each tire is supposed to be 30psi.

The pressure sensor on the rims is a little electronic box INSIDE of the rim (or sometimes on the valve) that senses the tire pressure. If you had your tires worked on, they could have knocked it, and it might be malfunctioning.

On Toyota applications, the reset procedure is fairly straightforward. Turn the key on (engine off), then press and hold the RESET button until the flashing TPMS warning light goes off. Or, if it is not flashing, hold the RESET button until the light flashes three times. Turn the key off. But the relearn procedure is not complete until the vehicle is driven at 19 mph or faster for at least an hour. During this time, the TPMS system may not be able to detect a low tire, so make sure all the tires have been inflated to the correct pressure before the vehicle leaves.

The sensor looks like this:

2004 Does NOT have wheel sensors. It is an indirect system on the 2004 RAV4. There was a warranty recall for a defective part on the 2004 RAV4 causing the TPMS light to stay on and not reset. The part is approximately $300

I have a GMC Sierra 2010 pickup the light for warning me about my tires is on and it want go have of . I am after having it to the dealer a couple of times and even to other service station's and after a couple of days the light comes on and I keep a check on the pressure and it's fine and I don't understand why this is happening

tarafından

joecummings64 Try going to a good tire shop and tell them what is going on. Most reputable shops will not take you to the cleaners over tire sensor issues. The most common problem with dealers and independent shops is lack of knowledge or training about tire pressure monitoring. Search around until you find someone that knows.

For those of you who are wondering where the reset button for the TPM system is on a 2013 RAV4, it took several days and finally a trip to the dealership who were at a loss also for about an hour since the manual was completely wrong. It is located inline with the center of the steering column under the dash in about 2 inches in a little pocket.

The sensors contain batteries that are good for 3-5 years, depending on the units used. This is a nearly universal design element - all makes and models.

Take it to a reputable tire shop to have the batteries replaced.

TPMS Batteries are normally designed to last for 7 to 10 years and not the entire life of the vehicle (13yrs) or 200,000 kilometers. However, vehicle manufactures only cover TPMS battery replacement within the warranty period of the vehicle, which is usually less than the vehicle's life. So, after several flat tire occurrences batteries eventually become exhausted and must be changed at the vehicle owner's cost.

tarafından

Temperature variations, humidity variations, water in the air fill line, shock, vibration, etc... all effect the life cycle of batteries. They may be designed to last 7 - 10 years, but real life often does not meet design standards. It's a 6 - 7 year old vehicle. It's well beyond the observed minimum, and within spitting distance of the designed minimum.

I have 2007 RAV4 and I was puzzled by the same issue- it turned out that the SPARE tire is also connected! So, when I filled up my spare, the light went away. Not sure where the spare tire is located on 2004 model, but i would definitely check that.

Dude something told me, check the spair, going back to gas station

04 has no sensor in the wheel/tire as pictured above. The sensor above is not in the wheels of the 04, the 07 has the sensors including the spare. The 2004 RAV operates off of the rotational speed of each wheel (thus it's called an indirect system). It uses the anti-lock wheel speed sensors to measure the speed of each wheel and the subsequent difference.

I have a 2000 Buick lesabre air in all tires lite still on now what do I do

tarafından

So based on what DEWEY said: If you have tires with very different tread thicknesses, you may always have a rotation speed difference (and the system will think one tire has less air). The only solution would be to buy new, matching tires.

I have been having this humming noise coming from the front right corner of my car I thought maybe the tire was bad or a bad Bearing now my low tire pressure light has come on and my tire pressure is fine what do you think this is? Could the low pressure censor be picking up resistance from a bad bearing and that is making the humming sound ? It is a 2001 Buick century

Also I moved the tire to the back and I still have the noise

It's likely a wheel bearing that is bad. You should have your wheel bearings checked right away since a total failure of the bearing can result in losing your wheel while moving.

OK - I have a 2007 Rav-4 with a solid-on TPMS warning light.

I checked my spare & it was low @ 30 psi. After inflating the spare to 35 psi, it remained the same.

Per this thread, I need to push the TPMS Reset button located under the steering wheel. It's not there. Looking on line, I found a few other suggestions. I looked next to the hood release and in both glove boxes

The TPMS Reset button isn't in any one of those.

I even removed the panel under the steering wheel. No luck.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

It's my belief that TPMS has no means of determining precisely how much air pres. is in your tires 40/65/80 p.s.i., or whatever.

It concerns itself instead with the percentage of difference. (15%-25% etc.). It would be highly impractical to manufacture pres. sensors specific to a given make/model automobile, or truck. Manufacturer's

Recommended tire pressures vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle.

IMO the warning light signals a difference greater than a certain percentage even though you may be overinflated or underinflated by a significant amount all around, and if the dashboard display does NOT indicate the position of the tire/wheel (RF/LR) for example, the driver must check (preferably with a good tire pressure gage) or visibly, to determine which one is low.

Bear in mind though, that the TPMS cannot, and does not tell you how much air pressure should be in your tires.

The owner's manual, and the decal/sticker inside the driver's door does.

VW, AUDI, BMW etc. on gas fill door.

Did you try retraining the system?

Make sure all your tires are at the correct pressure.

Turn the ignition ON (do not start engine).

Put the handbrake ON.

Hold the RESET button until the light flashes 3 times.

The retrain procedure is not complete until the vehicle is driver over 19mph or faster for an hour. During this time, the TMPS system may not be able to detect a low tire, so make sure all tires are at the correct pressure before you start.

The 2004 Rav4 does not have TPMS transmitters in the valve stems (does not use batteries). On this vehicle, the TPMS uses the ABS sensors on each wheel hub to detect tire rotation. The PCM (powertain control module) keeps track of each wheel via the ABS sensors and when one wheel is rotating slower than the others it will light the tire pressure alert.

Follow the retrain procedure above (make sure the tire pressure is correct before doing this) and you should be ok.

Do you have to drive it continuously for an hour? That is merely impossible when you live in the city. And, to do this on the freeway would be a complete waste of time and gas, because once you drive for an hour, you would have to turn around and drive back.

I have a 2007 Rav4, the TPMS warning light is on all the time. It blinks for a minute and then stay steady. I'm told this means there is an issue with the system. does anybody know where the reset button is on this vehicle. I've spent to much time looking under the dash but don't see anything. Can this light be turned off electronicly? The system is more of a nuscience then it is helpful

I have a 2011 Tundra with new 33’s and wheels and I had the TPMS sensors calibrated and the light stayed off for a long time. Now it is on steady. Where is the reset button on the Tundra? Is it the button to the right of the steering column under the panel and hidden? And, if the tires are overinflated, will that trigger the light as well? I didnt know the spare tire was connected to the tire pressure system too.

Do all vehicles have a TPMS? I have a 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara. If a vehicle has this tire warning system and after a number of years the light stays on and doesn't just need resetting but is in need of sensors - can someone just disconnect the system??? As stated above 800 dollars is a costly repair for an older vehicle so can you just disconnect that system? Can someone please answer my questions.
