Display specs for replacement?

Black MacBook A1181 MB063LL/A mid 2007

1) Can I replace the display with non OEM display listed as LP133WX1-TLA1?

2) If I buy a non working MacBook on Ebay, did Apple change to the display to LED or some other non compatible display so I need to be careful of the manufacturing date?

3) Any other tips on buying a replacement display?

The display I have has a black vertical bar about 50mm wide from top to bottom that does not show up in screen shot and does not change when I change display resolution.

Most notebook computers can use several models of LCD panels. The system bios is the key and will typically read the model of the LCD and accept it or reject it when the system is powering up.

If you plan to buy a replacement LCD module, try to get the same model number. If you cannot find an exact replacement, you can try another model of 13.3" LCD panel, but it may or may not work. If you get another LCD panel from the same MacBook model, even if not the same LCD model number, it will likely work. Any other LCD is a gamble.

BTW, you have an LG 13.3" WXGA LCD panel. The TLA1 is a revision. I'm quite sure that this LCD was shared in HP notebooks also, so that is a possible source also.

Hook it up to an external monitor and see if it persists.
