screen is not turning on after screen replacement

I replaced the iPhone 6s screen according to the instructions online and when I connected the cables for the screen to the phone and completed reassembling the phone, the screen will not turn on. It remains black even though the phone will vibrate if I flip the vibrate key. I tried hard resetting the phone by pushing the home button and the screen lock button at the same time and this did not help. Do you have any suggestions for why this could be happening. If not I want to return the screen as it may be the problem.

Everyone is right, its the backlight filter, this has been a common occurrence lately. The 6s has 4 volts steady to one of the LCD connector pins and ground is literally right next to it so if you go to center the connector with the battery connected, poof thats it (you can actually see a puff of smoke sometimes). The key lesson is to ALWAYS disconnect the battery when performing any repair or unfortunately you will be sending it to a board level repair shop for the backlight filter. Also just a warning on this phone if the screen fails to come on immediately disconnect the battery before pressing on or adjusting the connectors because of the close proximity of power to ground. Luckily it sounds like just the first capacitor in line right below the LCD connector. This is a link to a well known micro soldering shop that you can mail it into for the repair. www.mendonipadrehab.com. Hope this helps!

I agree with this, the 6s model is the most common for backlight failure compared to any other iPhone model due to this design as you specified.

Even with the screen or phone turned off, 4 volts is still running through those connectors, so like you said unplugging the battery is a must on this model.

first i would check that all the connections are in properly, the fact that your phone vibrates when you flick the switch means it had booted successfully. try connecting your phone to a computer to see if it is recognised by iTunes, if it is you are probably dealing with a faulty replacement screen.

Well the screen is now working. However, you need to shine a flashlight on it to see anything because it is so dark. I checked the brightness settings on the phone and made sure they were all the way up.

This sounds like textbook back light failure. The phone will power up and appear to work normally except the screen. When shining a light on the screen, you can see the images but very dim. This can happen if the battery is still connected when

removing/installing the FPC Flex connectors causing a short or arcing at the terminal blowing the backlight circuit. This happens alot with the Ipad mini, I've seen very few phones with it but it does happen to the 6. The usual fix would be firstly trying a different screen (in case it's the backlight itself at fault) or failing that, it would mean replacing the backlight IC (U1502), filters, coils and diodes. Not expensive but you will need surface mount soldering equipment and experience because it's a difficult repair!.
