Ink head dried up

I have an Epson Stylus 2880 printer that I have not used in about 5 years. Naturally the head has dried up and I cannot print. Is there a way I can fix this without replacing the printing head? A friend suggested that I wash them with boiling water. Any suggestions?

Try this method with ammonia.

If the ink dried in the pipes, this may not help.
