i just got the amazon fire stick...plugged it into the tv and it still won't come on...what am i doing wrong?...someone said you have to let it charge..if that is so how long

The mini usb connection port on the first generation fire stick are actually at a slight angle. It's a manufacturer defect. Unfortunately, I'm not sure they honor such a thing. Second, if it's got a bunch of sideloaded 3rd party content on it. I dont know if that hurts the situation any. But I did know this had happened to a lot of people! myself included. If your patience and solder game is where mine is. Looks like you'll most likely have to get a replacement unfortunately. Careful putting the mini-usb end into and out of the new device itself, not to fast, very slow and gentle, is that what she said...? Nah! Lol best of luck...

I have a fire stick and it needs to be plugged into power to work properly.
I agree with previous answer the HDMI cable or connection could be a problem.
You have to have the tv on the correct source. I have 4 and sometimes it will get set to the wrong source.
Check the battery in remote.

Firestick was frozen, just a white screen that said firestick.
Fixed problem by unplugging firestick power cord from the wall, turning it 180 degrees and plugged it back in. I dont know why or how this worked but it did.

Hello Gene C, There are times in which the Firestick gets frozen so unplugging the power from the AC then plugging it back in will allow it to restart. The reversal of the cord from the 5v DC transformer shouldn't work. If it was the outlet that received the switch then it shouldn't have mattered as the prongs are the same so it can easily be reversed and shouldn't have affected the firestick. Some outlets and prongs are polarized and require the prongs to be inserted only one way. Without additional information it is very difficult to give a very accurate answer.
Hello diane_whitt2000, You need to give more information about your firestick not coming on. Has it ever worked before or is this a new unit? Have you checked all of the connections to see if they are installed/inserted correctly? Did you call Amazon for free support?

Firestick is on but keeps saying optimising and storing applications wait 10 seconds i ket it opimize then put my sorce hdmi on and firestick comes across screen but then goes back to optimizing and storing applications again .over snd over and over again can u help fix this im just trying to watch movies

Mines having a similar issue, was working now not. I plug it in and fire tv comes up and thats it. Help I've tried everything, changed hdmi sockets, changed tv, usb wire is definitely working. Don't understand how it can suddenly not work
Same thing happened to me. I had to keep unplugging and replugging the power source until finally it connected. The FireTV logo came up on the screen.

Hi! You don't need to let Firestick charge. It just uses power from being directly-connected to a power outlet (using a power supply). Personally, I use this guide on fixing Firestick won't turn on issues. I've had good luck with the troubleshooting in that walkthrough.

Just plugged my fire stick in and power lead to tv it’s saying not enough power to firestick

Hi,
Have you selected the correct HDMI port as the "input" source on your TV?
Have you verified that the HDMI port on the TV, into which you plugged the Fire TV Stick is working by connecting another HDMI sourced device and see if it works OK e.g. a DVD player?

Did you plug it into the external power supply? You don't let it charge, but you need to keep it plugged into the included power supply. The Fire stick is a computer, and it needs to be externally powered.

did most of above still wont work We tried to get a sport channel on but xfinity wouldn't let us and the fire stick has not worked since then

I plugged my new fire stick into an HDMI port, selected it, connected power. Got the "amazon" logo for a few seconds, then a blank screen. Happens every time. Nothing but the logo. What am I doing wrong?
