How to remove air distribution box
my interior air cotrol will not move to defrost widscreen trouble is in the distribution box how do I remove it for repair

@sanbach , Ted, I do not think the whole distribution box has to be remove, maybe just a couple panels from under dash and maybe the glove box(link below) to access what they call blend door actuator. Visit your local Toyota parts department and ask very nicely for a picture of the blend door actuators/servo motor locations. They may print you one showing where everything goes. Also since some of these are electrically controlled I believe, there should be a trouble code to tell which one is bad because there may be a few, some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track and also may have a diagram. thanks helpful but my blend door is cable operated and the gear has come off the end so have to get under the steering side to fix but seem unable to remove the consoles on this side for access looks like the whole side panels have to come off incidentally we are rh drive
@sanbach , Ted, did not realize right hand drive :-), yes if center console will have to be removed probably to access, you must have a Toyota dealer they're and the guy in parts may be able to print off the procedure, take him a tea or coffee. Good luck.
yes thanks for suggestion think I may pass the job to a panel repair shop as I have had a go removing the dashboard and airbag but the shaft into the screen flap is broken and the nylon gear has fallen off so looks like a full dash removal and at 81 yrs old don't think I am flexible enough to go further appreciate your helpful suggestions
@sanbach , Ted, When I turn 81 can only hope to be as mobile as you sound, laying upside down under a dash definitely a younger man's game. Have a good evening.
