Resetting to factory Condition

Hi All,

I have an Asus Laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate. I am trying te reset to factory condition. There are no options in recovery or restore. Only to reinstall windows .

I tried under safe mode and start up repair no option. I then went through boot manager (f9) and it too did not take me to any related screen.

I have tried all methods and this is the 1st time in 25 years that I am unable to reset a computer.

I believe that Asus designed this (no user friendly way to reset) as almost all computers have this option in system recovery.

I would so much appreciate any insight into this.

Thank you in advance,

Marc

Did you make a restore disc when the computer was new?

Is there a restore partition on the computer?

Asus Recovery key is F9 while at the POST as stated here http://smallbusiness.chron.com/restore-a...

If this doesn't work then most likely the computer doesn't have a recovery partition. You can check by using Windows disk manager.

  1. Click start
  2. Right Click on Computer
  3. Click Manage
  4. Click Disk Management on the left hand side.
  5. Most of the time your system drive will be Disk 0
  6. There should be a partition label Recovery and should be around 10 to 20GB's in size.

If you don't see a recovery partition then you will need to download a Windows 7 ISO image. I have linked a Windows 7 All In One (All versions of Windows 7) ISO below.

You can use rufus https://rufus.akeo.ie/ to make a bootable USB.

I hope this helps

Great information. Question , do you download the iso directly to the rufus usb? Never did this before. Thank you greatly!

Sorry for the late reply mate. Most likely you have worked it out but for anyone else reading this. You download the ISO and then open it with rufus. You can select the USB drive in rufus if it hasn't selected it already. WARNING EVERYTHING ON THE USB WILL BE DELETED SO PLEASE BAKCUP THE USB FIRST.

save all your important photos, security site, etc to a removable memory stick ( Team C141 16GB )

Once that is done remove memory stick,do a force shut down,ie;- hold down your off button, then restart pressing F11 till screen appears with options on how to recover back to factory settings, select restore/reset to factory settings, select it,then let your laptop/pc do its thing, downside is after complete reset, you will have to plug in memory stick import everything you need, maybe abit of pain in backside, but it will give you performance back, speed and as got rid of all crap files etc, your laptop/pc will be good as new.hope that helps you. :)

i think a factory reset is perfectly normal and is a feature of Windows 10 that helps get your system back to a working state when its not starting or working well. Here is how you can do it. https://kuyhaa-me.id/kmsauto-lite-kuyhaa...

I've browsed the web for more than three hours, but haven't found another article as interesting as yours. I believe the Internet would be more beneficial if all web proprietors and bloggers produced puzzling content as you did.
