MacBook doesn't power up

Hi everybody,

My MacBook 13 inch mid2007 2.0Ghz/2x512/80Go/combo seems to be dead.

When the battery is full it does not power up even if it is plugged with the ac adaptor magsafe.

When the battery is out it's the same.

The battery is charging well.

The light on the magsafe adaptor turns green when there's no battery installed, and orange when the battery is charging.

I've read all the topics, I've dismantled the uppercase in order to check if there's something burnt in the logic board, but nothing seems to be damaged.

What do you think? Is it the logic board which is dead or the left I/O frame?

Thank you all for your help

UPDATE

It seems that the light on the magsafe adaptor isn't always green or orange when plugged. Sometimes it doesn't light, sometime lightly... I think it could be a problem on the power unit what do you think at all?

Thank you for your answer.

I've tried to do what you say, but I need lire details. Does the uppercase need to plugged when I try to connect the 2 small power pads on the motherboard?

I don't have any keyboard nor 2.5" bay for the hard drive. I've have unplugged eerything like you told and then replugged. Nothing has worked.

Thank you for your answer.

Yes top case must be disconnected. This procedure is a way to find out if the problem comes from the upper case. If you can power on the MB via the logic board then the top case is the culprit.

I tried to do what you say, but nothing happens when i connect the 2 pads...

What else? lol

I think that the motherboard or the power unit is faulty...

It sounds like your keyboard to logic board cable is disconnected. You would be unable to power on if it is. Follow this guide to fix it: MacBook Core 2 Duo Upper Case Replacement

Try plugging in to an external monitor and let us know the results.

I've not the adaptor for the external display but I will try. I don't know why the display could have a role in this problem while the computer doesn't boot.

Thank you for your help

I agree with "mayer." Also, keep in mind that the memory sticks are to be fully seated as well. You might consider unseating them and reseating them again just as a precaution.

Update

Hi, have you checked that ribbon cable that is coming from your top cover to the logic board? Perhaps that cable might have a broken connection right there where those small wires lead to that connect piece. Those ribbon cables cannot take a lot of "pulling" on the cable part itself, it's possible that there may be a connection issue right at that point where it attaches to your logic board. Examine that cable VERY thoroughly, you might hit "pay-dirt."

Hi had the same problem, mine will not run with 2 ram sticks installed but it did boot with just one in the 0 slot. It was working with 1 gb ram installed but not 2. Good luck

Hi there, you stated that your mega-safe adapter does not always light up (sometimes not at all). Well, check the connection terminal on your Macbook Pro. If they look somewhat distorted then you have a connection issue that is not unusual. With the mega-safe adapter plugged up to it just lightly "twist" it up and down and it you see the indicator light glow brightly then you have a good connection.

Now, when you attempt to turn it on is the "white" light indicator lamp lit at all? If you have completely NO activity whatsoever then all I can say at this point is that the logic board appears to be completely dead. Wish I could have some better news for you but I don't at this point.

The light white indicator lamp indicates nothing, that's why I thought the motherboard was faulty...

I think I'm going to repair the motherboard...

Someone know what component of the logic board may be in cause?? a capacitor ?
