@keisha, anna, Ensure battery is good and charged before starting the reset procedure on your S10. This info. is from ricks free auto repair advice. Link below, which may have more info. you perhaps would like to check out.
How to perform a PassLock Reset
1. Turn the key to ON and attempt to start the engine and release the key to the ON position.
2. The SECURITY light will illuminate. Wait 10 minutes until it turns off.
3. Turn the key to OFF for 10 seconds.
4. Turn the key to ON and attempt to start the engine. If it starts and run, the system has reset. If it doesn’t start or run and release the key to the ON position and complete the rest of the steps.
5. The SECURITY light will illuminate. Wait 10 minutes until it turns off.
6. Turn the key to OFF and wait 10 seconds.
7. Turn the key to ON and attempt to start the engine and release the key to the ON position.
8. The SECURITY light will illuminate. Wait 10 minutes until it turns off.
9. Turn the key to OFF and wait 10 seconds.
10. Start the engine

Ok so wat do you do if the security light never goes off even after 10+mins?
I have the same problem. The security light never goes off in step 2 even after 12 min.

I did that but now my hazard lights stay on. How do I get them to go off
I'm having the same problem with my 97 Skylark. The “theft system” light never goes off, it doesn't stay on solid or even blink right, more like it flits softly. I've tried both 10 and 30 min relearns many times but no luck. It's a shame because this car is near mint garage kept with 43k miles.

Ive done the steps 4 or 5 times now and my security light is still on and the truck still wont start, any help?
After reading all the blogs there was a couple that made very good sense to me. The guy that says disconnect the battery cables from the battery let it sit for about 20 minutes and then put the battery cables back on that way you have reset the whole computer and that will start and that makes sense because you have to do the same thing to your radio after you've done that cetera et cetera so the next time it happens to me I'm going to just take my cables off and sit there and wait a while and hook it back up.
I have a 1999 S10 I have replace almost everything and now the security light stays on and it won't start unless I put some gasoline on the carburator it runs good but the lights are on and security light stays on
It's your fuel pressure regulator is bad. I have a 2000 ext. cab and if i put gas or ether spray while cranking it will run but stop if no gas or ether . Got tne reg. but have not installedit yet, a pain it is between firewall and distri butor, below it. I also have the security problem, bypassed the cable at the key lock by cylinder but because the regulator is not installed i do not know if it will keep on rjunning.
